Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Using KYSA and SCSA Rules
How
long does my registration with a Soccer Forces team apply?
3.3.
SEASONAL YEAR. The seasonal year shall be from September 1, to August 31, of
the following year.
When
can I join a Forces team if I’m already rostered with a team?
3.13.1.
Youth players will become “free agents” on the first Saturday after the
completion of the State Cup tournament. They shall remain free agents until July
15, or until they are registered with KSYSA and rostered with a team, whichever
occurs first. After July 15, a player will still be considered a free agent
until such time as they register and roster to a team (Amended February 29,
2008).
Am I locked into my choice immediately after signing? What if my best friend calls me to join his/her team a week after I turn in my papers?
3.13.4.
Once a player has rostered to a classic or premier team, that player shall
have thirty (30) days in which to change their mind.
After 30 days, what do I do if another team asks me to join them?
If more than 30 days
after rostering to a team, a player is approached about joining another team,
the player must notify the other teams agent that he/she is already rostered to
a team and refer the person acting as agent for the recruiting team to his/her
coach for any further discussion.
What if the person calling me keeps calling and/or offers me a free uniform or other stuff if I change teams?
5.5.3.
Any club, team, coach, player or any other person who induces or attempts to
induce a registered player to leave his team in order to transfer to another
team during the current seasonal year shall be suspended for a minimum of six
(6) months. This penalty shall not apply to recruiting efforts that are made in
conformity with Rules 3.13.1 through 3.13.5.
[The Free Agency Period]
What if I tell the person calling that I’m already playing on a team and he/she says it’s okay, I can play on 2 teams, no problem and offers to bring me the registration paperwork for his/her team.
3.12.11.
No coach, assistant coach, trainer, team representative, registered player,
or parent may approach a registered player for the purposes of multiple
rostering without first contacting that same player's current coach. Failure to
comply with this rule shall result in the offending party serving a three (3)
game suspension.
But what if double rostering means I’ll get a starting position, special training, no fees?
3.12.2. A player will be counted as a “transfer” when rostering to any team after the player has first been rostered to another team for that seasonal year. (See 5.5.3 above)
What
if the person contacting me says, “Don’t worry about the paperwork, I’ll
take care of it and don’t worry about calling the coach, I will!”
In recent years, there have been a number of possible forgeries reported.
5.5.2. A team or club who submits false or inaccurate information to affect a player transfer or to prevent an otherwise legitimate player transfer shall be placed on probation for one (1) year.
If I roster with a second team without telling the Soccer Forces officials on my team and it turns out the person I was talking to didn’t tell them either, nothing will happen to me, right?
3.14.2. A player may be released from a team involuntarily only if the player is unable to play for one of the following reasons: (1) the player has violated rules of the KSYSA, USSF, FIFA or one of their Affiliates; (2) the player has moved beyond a reasonable travel distance; (3) the player is injured in such a manner that the player will not be able to participate for the remainder of the seasonal year.
